Raku Unicorn - Kingsugi
£45.00Price
So finally after years of you guys messaging me with suggestions to Kintsugi various bits of my broken pottery - I’ve finally gone and mended a Raku Unicorn inspired by Kintsugi.
Actual Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using resin and gold dust. It creates a feature of the breaks and cracks, celebrating the story a pot can tell.
It has a lot to teach us: cracks and breaks, wounds and scars are to be celebrated, our value uplifted!
I do have to say here that Kintsugi is an art form in its own right, an ancient tradition. My work here is a modern day version emulating Kintsugi to which I’m grateful for the inspiration - and the different lens through which to view broken pottery.
